Charlize Theron Confirms Fast X Return with New Set Images

Fast X is expected to bring back many franchise favorites for the penultimate movie, and Charlize Theron is definitely back on board.

Details about who will be returning to the Fast and Furious franchise for Fast X have been coming in over the last week since Vin Diesel made the title announcement for the tenth movie in the long-running franchise. The latest name to confirm their return is Charlize Theron, who shared a behind the scenes look at her villain, Cipher. Theron originally joined the franchise in The Fate of the Furious in 2017 and has continued to be a part of the series, last appearing in F9 when she once against escaped to fight another day meaning it was almost a given that she would be coming back for the penultimate round of high-octane action.

The Fast and the Furious started life as a moderate hit, but several movies later the series kicking up a gear and suddenly became one of the biggest movie franchises of all time. Having blown away the box office during the pandemic with F9, it was announced that the franchise would be coming to an end with Fast 10 and Fast 11. It was reported at the time that movies would be filming back to back for 2023 and 2024 releases respectively, but there has been no update as to whether that is still the plan.

For Charlize Theron, a Fast X return was pretty much guaranteed considering her character’s unfinished business at the end of F9. In the new images shared by the actress, she is seen with yet another new hairstyle having seemingly taken out two men in armor, posing in a way that suggests she is back to do business in this sequel. A second shot shows her on set appearing to be in between takes, surrounded by crew.

Charlize Theron’s Cipher Is In Line For a Fast and Furious Spin-Off

Last year when the end of the Fast and Furious franchise was already being discussed, Vin Diesel was quick to point out that although the main series would reach a conclusion with the coming installments, that doesn’t mean there won’t be more films set in the world of the Fast and Furious. While Theron is already in demand, with a sequel to the Netflix movie The Old Guard already in production and talk of an Atomic Blonde sequel always being rumored, Vin Diesel seemed pretty confident that he has personally been talking to the writing team about getting her a Fast spin-off of her own.

There have been no details yet on how any of the franchises will spin-offs will pan out, or when we will see any of them, but with the main series set to go out with a bang and a big box office return, there are no doubts that will see be seeing any number of new Fast movies coming down the line.

For now, fans can look forward to the usual action when Fast X arrives in cinemas and sets up the final chapter in the franchise which will see Vin Diesel’s Dom come to the end of the road and leave the franchise in the hands of the other actors that have helped it become such a big success. Fast X will be released on May 19, 2023.
