Doctor Strange, The Illuminati will see you now. The latest teaser for the upcoming Marvel sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has at last officially confirmed that the superhero secret society The Illuminati will finally make their live-action big-screen debut. Titled “Time” and released courtesy of Marvel Entertainment, the footage features Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, who, just in case there had been any doubt left, refers to The Illuminati by name.

Even before the very first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released, fans have theorized that The Illuminati could play a role in proceedings. A group of some of the Marvel universe’s most intelligent characters, including The Fantastic Four’s Mr. Fantastic, Namor, Tony Stark, and Professor Xavier, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will introduce the superhero team during a sequence that is expected to find Strange chastised for his meddling in the multiverse.

While it remains largely unknown who will appear in The Illuminati when they do make their debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there are several wild theories currently flying around, including that Tom Cruise will play a Tony Stark variant. While that is unlikely, Patrick Stewart himself has revealed that he will indeed reprise the role of X-Men leader Professor X, with his voice being heard in several trailers and teasers.

Will The Scarlet Witch Kill The Illuminati?

Something else that is currently being suggested by footage and fans is that Wanda Maximoff AKA The Scarlet Witch, who is likely to turn against Doctor Strange and his quest to restore the Sacred Timeline in the hopes of reuniting with her loved ones, will kill The Illuminati. Recent trailers have shown Wanda walking out of what looks like The Illuminati’s base of operations covered in blood, which strongly hints at the idea that, not long after being introduced, she will bring an end to the secret society of smart superheroes.

Seeing Patrick Stewart triumphantly return to the role of Professor Xavier before quickly being unceremoniously murdered by a former Avenger would certainly be a surprise. So, prepare yourself.

Thankfully it is not too long before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness lights up the silver screen, ten days according to this newly released teaser. What we do know is that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will pick up following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and finds Dr. Stephen Strange joining forces with both old and new mystical allies. Together, they must travel into the multiverse to face a mysterious new adversary — an adversary that looks a lot like Doctor Strange himself.

Directed by beloved filmmaker Sam Raimi, and written by Michael Waldron, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars an ensemble cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Benedict Wong as Wong, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 6 as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
