Evangeline Lilly Gave a Lot of Input on Ant-Man 3: Quantumania Script

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives next year, and Evangeline Lilly has explained how she was given some creative freedom on set.

Despite there being frequent rumors that Marvel Studios like to keep a tight hold on their expanding universe, a new interview by Evangeline Lilly has revealed that doesn’t mean that actors are not able to have plenty of input on set. It seems obvious that after playing characters for a number of years in the Marvel saga, certain actors will have a pretty good idea of whom they play and what they would do in certain situations.

For that reason alone, it is no surprise that Lilly felt she was able to give a lot of ideas forward while filming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She told Forbidden Planet TV:

PeraMovies News VIDEO OF THE DAY

“I have a lot of opinions and I’d love to share them and I’d love to give you my thoughts on all of this. And to do it with confidence and to do it with clarity, instead of, before I even speak, already… brushing my own ideas under the carpet, which is an old habit of mine. Like, ‘Yeah, this probably isn’t a very good idea, but…’ or, ‘You don’t have to use this, I’m just going to tell you what it is…’ Like all that stuff that I think is a very common habit of a lot of people and it was definitely a habit of mine, but instead saying just really openly, ‘Here are my thoughts.’ And that’s a really vulnerable thing to do without the precursor. It actually feels really unnerving because you’re making yourself vulnerable to somebody not liking it, without saying, ‘You might not like this and that’s okay.’ And that was really empowering for me to be heard and to have my ideas actually really, really well-received and valued and then to see them wind up in the final script.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Delves Deeper Into The Quantum Realm

The Ant-Man franchise started out as one of the stand-alone movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing a certain amount of non-essential comic relief after a number of other big blockbusters. However, over the following several years, the importance of Ant-Man became increasingly obvious as Scott Lang and the Quantum Realm became essential in the Avengers’ fight against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

Now having the ability to travel through time and dimensions in the Quantum Realm, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will now see Scott and Hope Van Dyne exploring the Quantum Realm in more detail than ever, and this seems destined to lead them to a number of big problems, including Kang The Conqueror.

Having already teased the coming of Jonathan Major’s villain in Loki, Kang will be the main antagonist of the latest outing for Ant-Man, and the film promises once again to be an integral part in the future of the franchise as it gets ready to close out Phase 4 of the MCU. With the multiverse also expected to play a part in the movie, there is going to be a lot packed into the upcoming film when it is released on Jul. 28, 2023.
