Everything Everywhere All at Once Star Jamie Lee Curtis Fires Shots at Doctor Strange 2

Right now, there is a battle being waged between two different multiverse movies. The first is an indie production called Everything Everywhere All at Once, starring Michelle Yeoh as a laundromat owner who has to save the multiverse. The other is a blockbuster studio film called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as a surgeon turned sorcerer who has to save the multiverse. A loyal soldier of that battle is Everything Everywhere All at Once’s co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, who has taken the rival from Marvel to task in a series of Instagram posts.

Unlike Curtis’s other posts, the first post contained two behind-the-scenes video clips, which just included pictures. The accompanying caption for that post had Curtis giving a shout-out to Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s directors, Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, collectively known as Daniels. She also gave a shout-out to Yeoh and stunt coordinator Timothy Eulich. She thanked the latter for stringer her up in a hallway/stairwell on day three of the movie. According to Curtis, unlike “other multiverse wannabe movies,” their film had no greenscreen. It was old school with real people, real places.

Another post had Curtis pointing out how the poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is highly similar to the one for Everything Everywhere All at Once, even using the word copycat. The picture accompanying the post even had the two posters side by side so that her followers could see the similarities and differences between the two of them. Curtis also took the time to highlight how Everything Everywhere All at Once was the #1 movie in America, that they would slay in a family feud contest, and to list the numerous stars in Everything Everywhere All at Once besides Yeoh.

The third post from Curtis contained a “TRUTH ALERT” about how the “MARVELOUS” Everything Everywhere All at Once had a deep beating heart, brilliant visual treats, extraordinary performances, and fantastic, beastly fight scenes. Yet, it cost less than the entire craft service budget of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and/or any other Marvel movie. During the same post, Curtis said that “F–k YES” she was competitive. According to her, she wasn’t the head cheerleader in high school for nothing.

And the Winner Is…

Perhaps a draw is on the horizon because after opening last Friday, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is eyeing over $175 million for the weekend on a $200 million budget, while Everything Everywhere All at Once, which premiered at the end of March, had domestically grossed nearly $40 million on a $25. At the same time, Everything Everywhere All at Once has received near-universal exclaim for its characters, storytelling, and action, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has received mostly positive, but not quite as good, reviews, with critics citing it as being entertaining but buckling under the weight of the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
