First Poster for The Expendables 4 Revealed at CinemaCon

The Expendables 4 is Sylvester Stallone’s final appearance in the franchise, but he is still front and center of the first banner poster.

The Expendables 4 will be the last outing for Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross, even if the franchise will undoubtedly live on for some time to come. Ahead of any footage being released from the latest installment in the action movie series, CinemaCon has delivered a first look at a huge banner poster that reminds us of the impressive line-up of actors that appear in the movie.

The Expendables is one of those movies that could have quite easily ended up being a dead-in-the-water gathering of has-been action stars that ended up being a huge flop. However, that was not the case and the 2010 movie’s lineup of Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren proved there was life in the old dogs to the tune of $270million in box office returns. While The Expendables 2 built on the franchise and the names involved, The Expendables 3 didn’t quite fare as well and became the lowest earner of the franchise after dropping from an R-rating to PG-13 and getting some less than favorable reviews.

That hasn’t stopped the gang from getting together once again for The Expendables 4, which has been filming in the early part of this year and will be back to its original R-rated glory. Sylvester Stallone signed off from filming, and indeed from the franchise, a couple of weeks into production, leading everyone to assume that his role will come to a premature end in the movie and leave the road open for Jason Statham to take over the franchise should it continue. This time around, the film also sees the return of Dolph Lundgren and features the addition of Megan Fox, 50 Cent, Andy Garcia and Randy Couture, among others.

The Expendables Could Continue as a TV Series

Though Sylvester Stallone is done with The Expendables after the new movie, he has made it clear that he believes the franchise should continue on in the future. This could be in the form of more movies or possibly in a TV series that was hinted at last year by Millennium Media’s Jeffrey Greenstein, who last year discussed some of the IPs that could be branching out into the world of TV in the future. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “Our focus has always been on feature film, we do have a slate of TV that we’re developing. But my plan is to focus on our IP within the TV space and build out Has Fallen TV, Rambo TV, Expendables TV. We’re playing around with Hellboy TV. So there are lots of opportunities, but I really want to launch something IP-driven first before we start developing original content.”

While Stallone probably won’t be part of The Expendables TV series if it should happen, he will be making his TV series debut in Kansas City, a Paramount+ series from the writers of Yellowstone and Boardwalk Empire which sees the Rocky star playing New York mob boss Sal who attempts to bring his Mafia family back to power in Kansas City. There is currently no premiere date known for the series, but it will no doubt be another big crowd-pleaser to the Stallone faithful.
