From the moment that Jason Momoa was announced as joining Fast X in a villain role, it was expected that the Aquaman star’s character would be crossing paths with Charlize Theron’s Cipher. Now hot on the heels of Theron confirming her return to the franchise, a new set image has shown the pair of them getting close to each other, suggesting that they will be combining their forces to try and bring down Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto.

Fast X will be the beginning of the end for the Fast and Furious franchise, which will conclude with the 11th movie in the series. For this reason, it is expected to bring the action in a big way, which clearly means bringing in some big guns to see out the story. Others expected to return are Helen Mirren, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris, who will also be joined by Brie Larson.

Charlize Theron joined the franchise in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious as Cipher, and she was back last year in F9. Having made her escape at the end of that movie, Cipher now needs a new plan as she goes up against Dom and his crew, and it would appear that Momoa’s new villain is going to be part of that. Theron shared a new cozy image of the pair on set on her Twitter account, and it is clear that they are going to make a dream team that will be a nightmare for Vin Diesel’s protagonist.

Jason Momoa is One of the Big Name Arrivals in Fast X

The Fast and Furious Saga has seen many well-known faces come and go, with Jason Momoa and Brie Larson being the newest stars to bring their A-game to the franchise. They follow in the footsteps of the likes of Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, Luke Evans, Eva Mendez, John Cena and Jason Statham, who have all dipped their feet in the Fast and Furious waters. While the movies are expected to see a number of spin-offs coming in the future, there will hopefully be a few more familiar faces dropping for Dominic Toretto’s send-off.

We will still have a while to wait until we see any footage from Fast X, with the film not arriving in cinemas until next summer. With F9 having been one of the biggest movies of the pandemic era, there is now a lot of expectation on Fast X to deliver the first part of a huge send-off for the franchise. While the early movies in the series didn’t exactly set the world alight, bringing in a decent box office return around the mid-$200 million mark, and it wasn’t until Diesel brought in Dwayne Johnson in Fast 5 that things really started to ramp up. Furious 7 became the first movie in the franchise to break the $1 billion mark, and overall the franchise has taken over $6 billion worldwide. Everyone involved will be hoping to see these final two movies take the series out on a high when they hit cinemas over the next two years.
