Speaking at a Supernatural convention, Jensen Ackles explained why Padalecki was not in attendance following a car accident last week.

Over the weekend, Jensen Ackles revealed that his former Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki was recovering following his involvement in “a very bad car accident.” The internet was awash with messages of support and well-wishes after it was revealed that the Walker star had been in the passenger seat of a car that was involved in a horrific crash that has left the 39-year-old nursing injuries at home. Ackles was appearing at a Supernatural fan convention at the weekend and revealed the details when Padalecki did not appear with him at the event.

Speaking to the crowd without his former co-star, Ackles said:

PeraMovies News VIDEO OF THE DAY

“I miss my buddy. He sends his love. I spoke to him yesterday and he’s sad he can’t be here. He was in a very bad car accident. He wasn’t driving. He was in the passenger seat, and he’s lucky to be alive. That airbag packs a punch. He’s like, “I feel like I went 12 rounds with [Mike] Tyson.” But he is doing OK, and he’s moving around. But yeah, [it was a] really, really bad car accident. Just keep him in your thoughts, send him some love if you get a chance on social and he’ll be back with us soon.”

Padalecki himself had pre-warned fans that he would not be able to attend the event via tweet on Thursday, but he did not give any details on exactly why he would not be in attendance. His tweet simply read, “Hey #SpnFamily! Sorry to miss y’all in NYC [sic] this weekend. Thank you and the #WalkerFamily for all the love and support. Can’t wait to see y’all again.”

Ackles revealed that while the accident was serious, there had been no fatalities and he was just mindblown that Padalecki was not in hospital and was able to be home recovering. All in all, it seems that, as Ackles said, he has been very lucky and we join his fans in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Jared Padalecki Will Act as Executive Producer on Walker Prequel Series

While he may not be involved in The Winchesters, the prequel series to Supernatural, Jared Padalecki will have a hand in the show currently under the title of Walker: Independence, which is a prequel to his own show, Walker. Although the series is yet to receive an official order from The CW, Padalecki has previously teased what fans of Walker can expect.

“There is so much space [for story]. So kudos to Anna and Seamus and the gang for coming up with this awesome idea. With the prequel, we [see] how the Walkers became the Walkers, how the Davidsons became the Davidsons, and how they became our version of the Hatfields and McCoys…we go way back to the 19th century to meet the first Walker who shows up in [Texas] and see her journey into set her own path.”

Season 2 of Walker will be coming to a close in the next couple of weeks but has already been commissioned for a third season.
