Legends of Tomorrow Star Shares New Reunion Throwback Image to Commemorate the Series

While Legends of Tomorrow may have ended its run on The CW, the cast recently got together at The Ultimates convention in the U.K. for a few throwback set photos. The CW recently ended several big series, including Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow, the latter having run for seven seasons and over 100 episodes.

While fans and the cast expressed their sadness at the show being canceled, several of the cast members appeared at The Ultimates convention to meet and greet fans, take photos and, this time around, commemorate the series as a whole. Long-time star of the series Caity Lotz shared a couple of reunion images on her Instagram, featuring Jes Macallan, Matt Ryan, Nick Zano, Olivia Swann and Nic Bishop. She captioned the photos, “Once a Legend, ALWAYS a LEGEND.” This is a sentiment many fans of the show have been happy to agree with since it was announced that the series was not being renewed.

Legends of Tomorrow was originally a spin-off from the popular show, Arrow, and over a very short time, it gained a large following among Arrowverse fans and more. The series, which played as a time-travel adventure when it wasn’t crossing over with other Arrowverse shows, was often praised for its diverse representation and having some pretty big storylines across its seven seasons. With the cancellation of Batwoman also being announced simultaneously, this leaves Superman & Lois and The Flash as the only Arrowverse shows to have been renewed for the new season.

The Arrowverse’s Future Is Uncertain at The CW

Many changes are happening within WarnerMedia at the moment, not least due to the merger with Discovery+, and since January, there have been rumors that The CW is potentially going to be sold off. While the DC content on the network has been a big crowd-puller in recent years, Warner Bros. has made no secret that they are pushing forward with plans to make a DC Hub on HBO MAX to bolster their IPs and bring in more subscribers to the platform.

Whether the future of shows like Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow figure in any of those plans is uncertain at this point, but fans have already started petitioning for Warner Bros. to start streaming the existing episodes of Batwoman on HBO Max and potentially make more in future.

There have been some comparisons made to Disney and Marvel Studios’ cancellation of Netflix’s Marvel TV shows, which a few years later were moved to Disney+ under their own branch of the Marvel banner. Could the long-term plan for the likes of Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow and other Arrowverse shows be similar? There is no way of knowing right now, and for the time being, it is simply a case of these shows falling off The CW’s schedule with no certainty that new episodes will be made or whether the remaining Arrowverse shows could follow suit in the next year or so.
