The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, the new action-dramedy starring veteran actor Nicolas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself, has opened to critical acclaim as massive as the actor’s talent. The film, which opened up at SXSW with a rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating, has equally astonished Cage’s fans, urging them to revisit his previous films, several of whom are referenced in the movie. Owing to this newfound interest in Cage’s films among fans, Peacock (via has added several of Cage’s films to its service, adding to the actor’s pre-established catalog.

These are the films included in the long list of films and television productions that Peacock has just released, revealing the whole lineup being added to its streaming platform. Among these productions are three Cage films that he acted in as a lead – Bangkok Dangerous, Con Air, and Red Rock West. The fourth film from Nicolas Cage’s filmography that will join these three Cage starrers is Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Fast Times… starred Sean Penn and Jennifer Jason Leigh in the lead role and featured Nicolas Cage in a fairly minor role. As a matter of fact, Fast Times at Ridgemont High was Cage’s first credited appearance in a movie and was a kick-starter of his career. In the film, he’s credited as Nicolas Coppola, his real name.

Nicolas Cage Isn’t New to Streaming

While these Nicolas Cage hits are recently getting on streaming platforms, there are several of his releases that have gone straight to streaming. During his career-low, Nicolas Cage seemingly disappeared from the big screen, with almost no major studio signing him up. In three years of the past decade – 2018, 2019, 2020, Nicolas Cage took on back-to-back projects that were either booked for streaming, Direct-to-Video, or Voice Roles. While these films didn’t receive much recognition or high positive reception from the audience or critics, there was a section of hardcore Cage fans who appreciated his performance. At the same time, his choice of roles got him misjudged by his peers and colleagues in the industry.

But that changed after two of his films, Prisoners of the Ghostland and Pig. The latter of which became Cage’s best critical success to date. Cage himself has regarded Pig as his best film to date in his four-decade-long career. Given the success of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Cage has become quite a fan-favorite sensation and has refound his previous success.

Cage has three more films slated to release this year, while his most anticipated Renfield is about to release next year. In Renfield, Cage portrays Count Dracula while Nicholas Hoult portrays his titular henchman, who decides to leave his boss’s line of work after falling for Rebecca Quincy.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was released on April 22 in theaters and has grossed $9.6 Million worldwide in its opening weekend. The commercial response to the film has not been as expected of its critical success. Critics have cited Cage’s absence from social media and lack of promotions for the film in between its festival premiere and theatrical release might have caused the decline in expected numbers.

You can now catch the said Nic Cage films on Peacock along with films like The Twilight Saga, Resident Evil Series, Public Enemies, The Namesake, and Schindler’s List.
