“Kevin was a joy to work with, kept everyone laughing between takes and delivered what I think will be a surprising treat for his fans,” director Michael Zaiko said.

This is not the only film that will be shopped to buyers at Cannes with Spacey in a lead role. It was recently reported the period film 1242 – Gateway to the West, which follows Genghis Khan’s grandson and stars Spacey, will be looking for buyers at the market as well. Spacey will also not be the only person whose name is associated with scandals to have movies up for sale at the Cannes market, as other titles will be shopped from controversial filmmakers and actors including Roman Polanski, Alec Baldwin, Luc Besson, and James Franco.

Kevin Spacey Is Back to Acting

These new films for Kevin Spacey are not the first to come for the actor since he was leveled with sexual assault and misconduct allegations in 2018. At the time, he was fired from his role on the Netflix series House of Cards and offers for other films from Hollywood very quickly dried up. Spacey has insisted from the start that he is innocent and has never forced himself on anyone. There have been lawsuits filed and criminal investigations launched as a result of these allegations, but they were all ultimately dropped, and Spacey has never been found guilty in a court of law for the alleged crimes.

Last year, Spacey divulged that he would be returning to acting with a role in the Italian film The Man Who Drew God. Co-starring Faye Dunaway and directed by Franco Nero, the film featured Spacey in the role of a police officer. As for concerns that Spacey’s involvement would be harmful to the movie’s success, Nero has previously addressed the controversy and said that it had only generated more interest in the film from buyers.

“We have plenty of interest from buyers around the world,” he said. “All the controversy around the film has generated plenty of interest…It was good for the film, from my point of view.”
