Russell Crowe’s Zeus Revealed in Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer

After being teased in the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, Russell Crowe’s appearance as Zeus has been fully revealed in the new full-length trailer for the upcoming Marvel Studios blockbuster. Coming near the end of the trailer, Zeus is seen in all his glory, in a hilarious scene that sees him manage to reveal Thor in all his glory as well.

The new trailer finally lifted the shroud on a number of other characters, primarily the villain Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, as well as new looks at Jane Foster/The Mighty Thor, Valkyrie, Korg and some quick shots of the Guardians of the Galaxy. When it comes to Zeus, his trailer appearance once again shows that there will be plenty of comedy in the movie despite the arrival of its terrifying antagonist and plenty of potential death to come.

PeraMovies News VIDEO OF THE DAY

The scene finds Thor being held by golden bindings before Zeus in his arena. As the lightning god flicks his fingers to remove Thor’s disguise he accidentally blasts away all of Thor’s clothes, leaving him in a state of undress and many women, and men, around the arena fainting at the sight. The moment is topped off by Thor bellowing, “You flicked too hard, dammit!” Check out the trailer again below.

There have been lots of rumors about the arrival of Russell Crowe as Zeus, and many of those rumors suggest that the god will be one of those to meet his maker at the hands of Gorr in the movie. This is partly supported by a scene of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) battling Gorr with what appears to be one of Zeus’s lightning bolts. Of course, this is Marvel, so the trailer is jumbled and disjointed just enough to make sure that we know what is coming, without knowing anything about what is coming.

Thor: Love And Thunder Will Challenge Doctor Strange To Be Top Marvel Movie of 2022 So Far

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has just passed the $800 million mark to take the top spot as the highest-grossing movie of the year to date. While the Marvel sorcerer will have some fierce competition to retain that spot with Jurassic World Dominion on the horizon next month, in July it will be Thor attempting to dethrone whichever of those monster hits holds the crown.

Marvel Studios have only three movies releasing this year, thanks mostly to the delays and postponements caused by the Covid pandemic, but all three movies have a solid foothold in the MCU already. While 2021 was mostly about introducing new heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the year closed out with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which kicked off a string of sequel movies coming in the next year.

Thor: Love and Thunder is followed by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which will also pull in big box office numbers thanks to the legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman and the success of the original Black Panther, and next year sees the arrival of new additions to the Ant-Man and The Wasp, Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel franchises all by the middle of summer. Another, currently unannounced movie is expected to arrive later in 2023, making next year look like another blockbuster year for Marvel Studios.
